Privacy Policy
How we handle your personal information when you book a LaundryToGo pickup. Effective January 12, 2025.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information LaundryToGo collects when you use our pickup and delivery laundry service, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to bookings, gifts, and support you request through this site, and it works alongside our Terms of Service.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Contact and booking details — your name, email, phone number, and the pickup and delivery address you provide.
- Order details — pickup and delivery windows, special instructions or care notes, weights, and order history.
- Payment information — processed securely by our payment provider. We do not see or store your full card number; we receive only a confirmation and limited details needed to bill and support your order.
- Messages you send us — the content of texts, emails, or contact-form messages you send for support.
- Basic technical data — standard information your browser sends when you visit the site (such as device and usage data), used to keep the site working and secure.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to schedule, pick up, process, deliver, and bill your order; to send you transactional updates (confirmations, pickup and delivery notices, invoices, and payment links) by email and SMS; to provide support and respond to your questions; to keep records for tax, accounting, and legal purposes; and to protect the service against fraud and misuse. We do not use your laundry order information for advertising.
4. Who we share it with
We share your information only with the service providers that help us operate, and only as needed for them to do their job for us:
- A scheduling/booking provider to manage pickups and deliveries.
- A payment provider to process payments securely.
- An email provider to send confirmations, invoices, and updates.
- An SMS/text-messaging provider to send order updates and payment links.
These providers are permitted to use your information only to provide their service to us, not for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
5. Where your information is processed
Some of the providers we rely on (for payments, scheduling, email, and SMS) are based in the United States, so your information may be stored, processed, and accessed there. While it is in the United States it may be subject to US law, including lawful access requests by US authorities. We use providers that are contractually bound to protect your information to a comparable standard.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your booking, order, and billing records for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, and then we delete or anonymize them. Support messages are kept only as long as needed to help you and to improve the service.
7. How we protect it
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, and we require our providers to do the same. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit who can access it to those who need it to serve you.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction — you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us using the details below.
- Messages — reply STOP to any text to opt out of SMS (this may limit the order updates we can send), or contact us to update how we reach you. Transactional messages are part of providing the service you booked.
- Withdraw consent — you can ask us to stop using your information for a given purpose, subject to the legal and contractual limits of doing so while an order is in progress.
If you have a privacy concern we have not resolved, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
9. Data breaches
If a security breach affecting your personal information occurs and the law requires it, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required, and take steps to contain and address the incident.
10. Children
Our service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, is always posted on this page. Significant changes take effect when posted, and continuing to use the service means you accept the updated policy.
